Sunday afternoon Bible class for adults is conducted from 3 to 3:45 p.m. The studies include books of the Bible, doctrines, topics, Lutheran confessions, etc. These studies dig deeper into the Bible to discover the “treasures” of God’s revelation to mankind through his Son, Christ Jesus. Real-life applications are learned through lively discussions among participants as we share our faith and learn from one another in a relaxed atmosphere. Come once or come every Sunday and enjoy the fellowship and learning experience.
People today have a lot of choices when it comes to religious beliefs. It can all be very confusing. But instead of throwing up one’s hands and deciding not to believe anything, an honest and sincere investigation of one or more of these religions may be helpful to relieve that confusion and even result in life-changing attitudes. Anyone interested in a brief, simple investigation of Christianity is invited to participate in our church’s “Introduction to Christianity.” This is Christianity in a “nutshell.” It distinguishes Christianity from all other religions and identifies ways it is so unique from all others. This learning opportunity is offered at our fellowship hall or in individual homes.
The four topics under investigation are:
Lesson #1: What Makes Christianity Different from Other Religions
Lesson #2: What Is the Bible and What is It All About?
Lesson #3: Why Is This World So Crazy?
Lesson #4: Why Do I Need Jesus?
Twelve lessons for one hour and 15 minutes each week provide instruction in the 12 most important teachings of the Bible. These "classes" are designed for teens and adults and have the purpose of acquainting you with all the basics of Christianity as taught, confessed, and practiced by our Lutheran Church. Some who have a Lutheran background are interested in a quick review of the foundations of their faith. Others who do not have a Lutheran background are curious as to its teachings as gleaned from the Bible. Still others come from no Christian background at all and want to know what the Bible and the Christian faith are all about. The course also prepares you for membership at Calvary Lutheran Church, although attendance at the classes does not obligate you in any way to join the church.
The course covers the following basic topics:
Lesson #1: God, Do You Really Exist?
Lesson #2: Where Did We Come From?
Lesson #3: The Origin of Evil
Lesson #4: Who Is Jesus Christ
Lesson #5: The Best News the World Has Ever Heard
Lesson #6: Where Is Jesus Now?
Lesson #7: When Will We See Jesus Again?
Lesson #8: How Do Believers Become Believers?
Lesson #9: What Makes the Bible So Different?
Lesson #10: The Holy Spirit Works through Baptism
Lesson #11: The Holy Spirit Works through the Lord’s Supper
Lesson #12: The Holy Spirit Gathers His Church
I believe you will find these "get-togethers" both interesting and spiritually rewarding. A close bond is always developed among the individual attendees as well as with the pastor. Classes will be held in our fellowship hall at a day and time that is convenient for all. Special arrangements for private sessions in your home can be made for those who cannot make it to our learning facility. Hopefully, you will be joining us. Bring a friend, bring family members along!
